The
"Hikosso Diva" has performed at NYC’s
Apollo Theatre and NYC’s Lincoln Center for
the Arts, Canada’s Toronto Afrofest
and Nigeria’s Lekki Beach. She has been the
featured artist at fundraisers for the Hunger Project and
the New York City Parks Department. She continues to perform
at functions both small and grand and at popular clubs throughout
the United States and Nigeria.
The "Hikosso Queen" has been given an
honorary Master of Arts degree in Contemporary Music for her
contributions in the world of music by New York’s University
of All Saints. Hikosso Music is a mixture of highlife, makossa
and
soukous made magical by the scintillating vocals of
FLOXY BEE. The background is highlife which
FLOXY
BEE is known for, and being the West African musical
equivalent to American Jazz, has an open structure
making it fertile ground for the Hikosso Queen’s
multifaceted and eclectic talents.
FLOXY BEE, the Queen of Hikosso Music was
born in
Lagos, Nigeria. Africa’s most electrifying songstress,
began singing in the church, then performing with
major stars such as the late Yemi Ogunsanya a.k.a.
Yom-Yem and Sonny Okosun and the Ozzidi Band
with whom she recorded Songs of Praise 1 and 2.
Too talented to be kept on the side line, she also
headed her own bands: Floxy and Combo, Floxy and Ngomalio,
Floxy and the Heroes, Floxy and friends and Floxy and her
Band. She formulated Hikosso Music which is
currently taking the world by storm. |
